Guitar and vocals looking to start alternative / punk band.
Hope everyone is doing well.
My name is Tommy and I am a guitarist and vocalist looking to start or join a serious band, with the goal of creating original music (minimal covers), putting on great live shows, and eventually recording and releasing professional sounding music (albums and EPs).
I am inspired by modern rock/alternative/punk music, so no classic rock, not too much indie either. Some of my favourite bands include AVOID, My Chemical Romance, You Me At Six, A Day To Remember, a little bit of Blink-182 / Green day, and the rest of the usual suspects in the realms of the genres these bands cover (rock, alternative, punk, pop punk, and a little bit of Emo as well).
In previous gigs I have used (and still do) a powerful 100 watt amp, and I have many guitars for different tuning and sound options as well (les Paul jr, epiphone casino and a fender dreadnaught for acoustic songs) and a few cheaper guitars that I use on more aggressive/punk music. The amplifier I use is very generous to pedal tones, so I have a set tone that I enjoy using, and a compressor to lift the cleaner tones.
My vocals are fairly unique, I am naturally a baritone/tenor singer, but I have good control to switch to falsetto, which nicely lends to the type of music that I enjoy playing and singing.
I have been in several bands before, mainly indie bands, but the problem I had with them was there was no desire to create real music and every band practice/rehearsal ended up turning into a hang out.
One of my greatest strengths is my songwriting ability. I have been writing music and lyrics since I was very young, and haven't stopped, so while I was in these bands i wrote lots of original material, and tracked it in GarageBand files on my MacBook, that I am more than happy to share with you if you are interested. I am also 100% open to new ideas and songs from bandmates / anyone interested in this ad.
My schedule is basically wide open. I'm free after 6pm everyday, and I have some weekdays off also (typically Mon-Wed/Thu).
I want to be part of a serious project, hell-bent on making great music, and having a good time while doing it. If you are interested, don't hesitate to reach out. I'm in my mid 20s, but age doesn't matter to me as long as you can commit to the music. Distance is also not an issue either, as I have access to a car.
Thanks for reading, kind regards.
