Sometime songwriter seeks similar

Mid 40s parent, out of this stuff for a while, recently rediscovered that those guitars about the house are not just for decoration.

Ideally looking for writing as a collaborative/collective action rather than being the sole voice/source. Not saying it has to be a group effort on everything, but I'm 100% sure that anything I've written is up for being pulled apart and repurposed.

So, what am I looking for? What's the sound?

Honestly, I don't know. By dirnt of my age, my tastes veer towards the college/alternative rock of the US and UK, but that's not by any means exclusive. I'm just an arrow looking for a bow.

I'm told (often) that what I write myself has the feel of bands like Guided By Voices, Built to Spill, and Sebadoh, but I put that down to lazy vocals on demos, a lack of self-editing and my lack of flair for home production.
