Mature Bass Player Seeking Established or Startup Band

Hi,

I'm a bass player in my early 50s. I'm looking to either join or set up a covers band. Nothing deadly serious but primarily for fun. That's the point isn't it? Have played guitar on and off for 40 years but have focused solely on bass since 2020. Finger style is my preferred method of hitting the thing, and pick where a bit of dig-in is required. Slap bass isn't my thing or musical taste in general.

My music taste, on account of age, leans towards 80s post punk, new wave, pop and a bit of rock. Also 90s indie pop and noughties. A little bit of 70s too I suppose. I'm open-minded about songs though and easy to get along with. (Not looking to play Alright Now or Mustang Sally though😄) The set list of my most recent band was quite eclectic, albeit not predominantly to my personal taste. It was great fun and good experience though.

Have transport, a couple of basses, a bit of an aging but capable rig for small gigs....all the usual stuff. Not the greatest or latest gear, but it's served me well in gigs over the past two years and has been reliable.

My level? I think that's always subjective, but I learn pretty quickly by ear and tab. Intermediate maybe but by no means a beginner. I put in the time and effort to learn new songs.

Please drop me a message if you think I might be able to fit in.

Cheers,

Toby
