UPRIGHT BASSIST with great musicianship urgently NEEDED
This is for a new and ambitious blues band project that will tear up a wide and exciting CHICAGO BLUES repertoire played in an entertaining and authentic way, and we need someone to come in who plays and owns both an upright bass AND a bass guitar. The band will perform a wide range of great material (50's to 80's), and BOTH bass types are needed for the sound as well as the image of the band.
Age is no barrier, although this project is likely to best suit someone in the the content will be revealed after joining, it is hidden for privacy protection from bots age range.
The full band line-up will comprise: vocals, harmonica, guitar #1, guitar #2, upright bass/bass guitar and drums/percussion.
Material will typically be from the Chicago Blues songbooks of Buddy Guy/Junior Wells, Little Walter, John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters, Sonny Boy Williamson, Elmore James, Howlin' Wolf etc. Have no fear though, there's heaps of material already lined up, expertly curated by life-long and organised blues enthusiasts within the band!
What we need is a talented bassist, someone with feel and timing who gets as much of a buzz from the rest of the band as from his own playing, and who subscribes to a 'do no harm' musical philosophy!
Rehearsals will likely be at a pro studio central-ish to where everyone lives once the line-up is confirmed.
So if you're a BLUES bassist who plays electric and upright, you're a reliable sort into CHICAGO BLUES and you'd be genuinely committed to be a good bandmate, rehearsing and gigging going forward, please reply with some information about your experience and then we can have a chat towards a fast start into a first get-together.
