Bass player - goth/punk covers band, Bass player 80s goth/70s punk covers, I'm a Bass player! Punk/Post-Punk/Goth cover band?
About me: Hi, I'm Steve. I'm a 37 year old bassist and I'm based in Fife. I'm looking to start/join a punk/goth/post-punk covers band. I'd even be willing to do a specific cover band like the Damned, Joy Division or Sisters of mercy (They all tow that line really nicely).
Full disclosure: I'm a dad of a 2 year old ( I won't flake out of practice but important to stress that life isn't the most predictable but it's also not massively unpredictable either. I will also have family holidays. Again most people in their 30s probably do so, I'm probably being over cautious lol. I'm a bit rusty and working with less than excellent gear (Epiphone Thunderbird/Orange 50w and pedals) but I'm determined to get back up to speed and will improve my gear as I go. I can only do one practice a week plus gigs (that's probably standard) and as I have a professional job, I can only work with people who don't have drug issues and people who don't do anything illegal. I'd rather work with people in their, late 20's/30s or older, if possible.
Things that may go in my favour: Well if I haven't put you off collaborating with me by now, excellent! I'm really friendly and I will push myself to be better constantly so if you think I'm below your level you'll soon find me pushing to match. I don't mind collaborating with anyone: Gender, race, religion, sexuality. I'm there to be in a band with you and so none of that matters at all. I just want to work with sound people, who want to play these covers and have a laugh.
I've always found myself improving in a band setting and I'll get back on track quickest this way. I've been in a couple of original punk bands a long time ago, nothing too serious but would like to step up to something like this. I just want to play the music I enjoy, meet people into the same music and have a laugh really. I love gigging as well so totally up for that. Let me know if you fancy having a jam or that.
I really don't want to do original stuff at the moment, I really just want to enjoy it and having the blueprints ready to do that does help. I've not enjoyed the original band work. I just don't feel like it's right for me right now.
