Looking for the future
Hi there
I'm looking to find some cool people to make music with who are on the same wavelength as me.
Someone who wants to make something that is less nostalgic and repeating things that have already been done and looking more for what sort of exciting and interesting new shapes we can make. I'm not looking to make crazy unlistenable avant garde jazz noise and I don't want to make basic meat and potato indie rock either but something that combines elements of both and ideas from other place too. I like lots of electronic music and stuff that people can dance to. I love interesting time signatures and cool textures. And words. Words are cool. I want to try and find a way that combines all of that into something that sounds fun, dynamic and beautiful.
I sing and play guitar and make noises with laptops. I like effect pedals. I've been in a few bands before but am looking to make a fresh start. I'm into films and art and books and philosophy. I'm a fan of Ursula K. Le Guin and Zizek.
I'm looking for people who are smart, easy to get on with, know how to communicate and are up for dedicating themselves to something serious.
I'm very happy to collaborate and work with other people to make something cool but I'm afraid I'm not interested in joining your band. Sorry. Also if you can't play an instrument that's not going to work either I'm afraid.
I have a shared studio space in Star Lane where we can rehearse and store our equipment. I am free on Monday and Wednesday evenings and I can do every other Saturday too. Looking for people who are willing and able to rehearse two or three times a week.
Some stuff I like: Godspeed You Black Emperor / Radiohead / Six By Seven / Parts & Labor / 65daysofstatic / / How to Destroy Angels / Horse Lords / Braids / The National / Oceansize / Sigur Ros / Bloc Party / Björk / Nine Inch Nails / Spiritualized / Massive Attack / Holy F*ck / Frightened Rabbit / Jon Hopkins / Son Lux / Low Roar / Black Country, New Road / Alessandro Cortini / Phoebe Bridgers / Apparat / Mogwai / F*ck Buttons / Tunng / Mclusky / Frightened Rabbit / School of Seven Bells / Arctic Monkeys / Thee More Shallows / that type of thing.
