Keys wanted for covers band (mid-life crisis support group)

It all started over a couple of pints in a pub before a Ben Folds gig in London. We (a drummer and a singer) love music and playing with bands, but the normality of life (kids, work, etc.) had taught us that rock stardom is not where it's at. Pint 1 was a bit of a moan. Pint 2...surely it's just about being in a covers band which rehearses semi-regularly and does a few gigs a year. Just enough to fill the void...

We found two like-minded, easy going, but super-talented guitarists and, together, we've spent the last few months honing our craft to the point where we really don't suck that much, and sometimes we actually sound quite good. We now need to add another layer to our sound and we have a sneaky feeling it's keys.

We're all in our 40s, with a wide range of tastes, which means our set-list is fairly mainstream with the odd eclectic love-letter to our respective favourite artists. We've all been in bands before, with varying degrees of success and fame (or lack thereof). None of us are ego-driven maniacs and we're keen to keep it that way.

YOU:

Maybe you played in bands in your 20s and then started being "normal" too. Normal, but a little bit emptier for not cramming into a small rented room with dodgy accoustics and cracking through some fun covers without trying to be too cool. Maybe we're the solution.

We're looking for someone who can play keys and is confident enough to work out where they would fit in most songs. Some BVs would be a bonus. A second guitar would be a double bonus (but keys is what we need, so that's the preference).

All of that said, attitude is far more important than a million years of experience or a pro-background. This is supposed to be fun, it's not going to make us a fortune, but it might just stop us going totally crazy as we get old.

We're aiming to be gigging by the New Year if possible but, if it's later in the year, that's fine too. As we say, the process of rehearsing should be fun in and of itself, the rest will follow.

Currently rehearsing in Wyboston area but open to other studios if you know of one halfway between Central Beds and Thrapston.
