Blues and rock covers band

I'm a lead guitarist and harmonica player, and I'm keen to start a blues and rock covers band.

I'm thinking we would practice at least twice a week, and be hoping to get gigs by the summer, depending on how well it's all going.

Blues is such a great genre for musicians to get together and jam to, due to its simplicity, great sound (of course), and versatility. It's also the perfect genre for improvisation between musicians.

At a minimum we'd need an acoustic guitarist, a lead singer, a drummer and a bassist, with me on lead guitar. I'd love to add in a keyboard player as well, if we can find one!

There also seems to be a serious lack of good local blues bands, so the gap in the market is clearly there.

A lot of great artists have relatively unknown back catalogues full of really great songs, so I'm thinking we'd do some classics, but also add in some lesser known tracks to spice things up.

A couple of modern artists that have the vibe and sound I'm thinking of would be: "Joe Bonamassa," for the soulful blues, and the slightly rockier sound: "Kenny Wayne Shepherd." Linking this to the pervious point, KWS does a great cover of "Ballad of a Thin Man" and "Everything is Broken," both original Dylan tracks (of course).
